DEUTERONOMY 34:10-12
As we summarized the message series, 'The Mountaintop Experience With God', which we had been considering for the past five weeks, I was beckoned to speak more upon the life of that man, Moses. Now, this man was born in such a time when all powers ruling his birthplace were against his birth, and for such a reason, even though others died at infancy, Heaven broke all protocols, just so the Deliverer could be born. Heaven did all so Moses be saved! Remember; it didn’t start at the throwing away of infants into the Nile River, but it began rather at the commands of the Pharaoh of Egypt towards the Hebrew Midwives, who due to their fear for God, refused to perform the wickedness of killing Hebrew babies at birth. Here, Heaven’s hand helped such women respect God, that they even could not do the biddings of the highest-in-command of a country wherein they were slaves.
Moses was born during such a time, just so he could fulfill his destiny pronounced about 400 years ago. During the reign of the Pharaoh who knew not God nor Joseph, a woman of the tribe of Levi gave birth to a male child; at this time, the Hebrew babies were at a loss for upon them had been placed a death sentence; but instead of this woman to give up and surrender her child, she looked upon him and seeing he was a goodly, noble and honorable child, she hid him despite all odds, in sickness and in health, weakness and in strength, in hunger and in excess, and in such a way that no man knew that a baby had been born in that home…. Oh what a wonder! That a baby who could have screamed out at night, alerting neighbors and supervising Egyptians, was nurtured by a woman who unknowingly to her, was backed up by the Hosts of the Heavens. Now, it came to pass, that after this child had been hidden for the space of three months, his mother could no longer continue to hide him, and so she made him an ark of bulrushes, hiding him therein and laying him on the brink of the waters of the Nile. This too was under Heavens arrangements… and the ark floated from off the brink and towards the part of the Nile wherein the daughter of the Pharaoh was to have her bath. Now I ask; were there no other rivers in Egypt wherein this princess could wash herself? Yes, there were! Yet, due to Heavens program, the daughter of Pharaoh had no other choice but to journey to the River Nile to bathe; and there, she heard the cry of a baby who had been sent off in an ark. She commanded that he be brought to her and upon seeing him, she had compassion on him, though she knew he was a Hebrew child. She took him as hers and when Miriam, the elder sister to Moses, who had been spying saw this, she came out to suggest a midwife for the baby; and the princess consented. This young lass went thereof and called upon the mother of the baby, who was paid to care for her child, whose name was later called Moses and who was raised in the way of kings.
Yet, we know that he didn’t just grow in the knowledge of Egypt, but also grew in the knowledge of his people and it was for this cause that he fought with the Egyptian who strove with the Hebrew and killed him. Then he fled, when he discovered that the matter which he had so concealed was no longer a secret. And he came to Midian; he was forty years old. Now it came to pass, that when Heaven decided that it was time for this man to come to the knowledge of the Almighty God, he was encountered by the sides of the Mount Horeb, where he went to tend to his father-in-law’s flock. One may ask; what does the Lord have for shepherds, that amongst those whom He calls, majority are shepherds? Moses was a shepherd, Elijah was a shepherd, King Saul was a shepherd, David was a shepherd and so much more… and even the Lord Himself declared, saying, “…I AM THE GOOD SHEPHERD…” What is so special about them? And I ask; Do you desire to be used of Christ? Then you must live a selfless life, for this is always the way of a true shepherd… He would do anything for the security of his sheep, despising his life. A good shepherd is the person who has abandoned the things of the world, for the things of God. He no longer has desires towards the world, but has his affections set upon the Heavens. He is SELFLESS. If you are to live the life of the good shepherd, you must be consecrated from the world. God is looking for the selfless brother or sister who would be set aside for Heavens use. Moses was such a man, and so also was Peter, the Called fisherman, and even Saul of Tarsus, amongst many others…
But not only was Moses encountered, made and commissioned for the task he had been destined for, this was also a man who had seen mysteries. From the foundations of the world, even up till date, there has existed no man to whom has been made known the mysteries of God, as Moses (except Jesus, Who has been from before the beginning). It is just this man, amongst those born in the flesh, who knew the mysteries of God. Solomon didn’t know, even though he was the wisest to ever live, yet his knowledge was limited; to Enoch also, who walked 300 years with God, was the mysteries of the beginning not shown, even Abraham and so many others never knew of the beginning but Moses did; and to this David testified- Psalms 103:7. The whole earth owes this man, Moses; for it was to him that the understanding and the knowledge of the beginning was downloaded and given; remember that this man was not born in such a time, yet he was shown it and he became the author of the Book of Genesis. He was declared by God to be faithful, and for such a reason, spoke with him face-to-face, as a man speaks with his friend-Numbers 13:6-8. These mysteries he may have gotten after he made a request no mortal has ever made and it was accomplished! He asked that he see God, just as He was and he did, when he was placed upon the Rock, Jesus; for we know that no man can see God, unless he comes through Jesus-Exodus 33:21-23. Moses was placed upon the Mount by God, and his eyes too were closed by the Most High, that he see not the face of God, lest he die; but when opened, Moses saw the back parts of God-- Exodus 33:18-23. He is the only one (except Jesus), who throughout the Bible was pronounced ‘Faithful’- Hebrews 3:1-5.
This man was one who continually went to God for help, support, care and more mercy, unlike King Saul. When Moses sinned, he pleaded with God, asking that mercy be extended despite his sin; but King Saul was a man much filled with pride, who refused to seek mercy, when it was pointed out to him that he had transgressed against God, by the Prophet Samuel. Saul’s sins were continually due to his desire to be highly esteemed before the people and for such a reason, God resisted and cast him off. And even after the wicked things he did, he still sought after soothsayers and diviners who he had abolished when he was still true to God. He went therefore, back to his sin and those things which he once turned his back on. He went to such a woman in order that he could summon the spirit of Samuel just so he could know the mind of God concerning the situation he was facing. What a misnomer! Going to seek the face of God from amongst the dead… Yet he received the verdict laid upon him for all he had done against God and they were fulfilled in full-1 Samuel 28:7-20.
Now; What is my concern with this? It is the fact that this same Moses, who had wrought so many miracles in the land of Egypt; who had spoken mouth to mouth with the Almighty, divided the Red Sea, and spent so much time with the Lord that he now knew His ways, this same Moses sinned, and God, Who is no Respecter of persons, refused to regard him. Moses began to cry and cry, pleading that the land for which he had gone to Egypt and delivered the people out, he pleaded that he saw and entered it, but God would hear no more of the matter; but insisted that though he might see the land from afar, yet will he not enter. This shows that God really is no Respecter of persons. No man ever has done close to that which Moses did, yet when he sinned, he wasn’t pardoned, that he might get his heart's desire- Deuteronomy 3:23-28; 34:1-6.
But for God’s mercy, his soul was spared. Though he had lost his place on earth, yet we thank God that Moses’ soul was fought for by the Almighty when the enemy sought to prevail and land him in hell; satan, while striving for the soul of Moses, who rebuked by the angel of the Lord. Moses was granted a placed in Heaven due to God’s mercy-Jude 1:9. This is to tell us that any who thinks he stands, should take heed and be firm, lest he falls- 1 Corinthians 10:12.
And for this reason, here is Paul’s testimony:
“But I keep under my body, and bring it under subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway."
REMAIN BLESSED!!!
