Men and brethren, the world is full of worshippers, many worship in mountains, valleys, traditional homes and even different countries. In several streets, you find worship places dedicated to worshipping God BUT not all worship is acceptable in the sight of the Holy and Righteous God. Jesus used this 14th verse in Matthew 5 to show us that the true believers and Christians are the SALT of the earth. We know that not everything that is white is salt, as sugar is white, so also is powder, but they cannot give taste to anything. In this same way, some believers in the church can no longer give taste, meaning and help to the church because they have lost their savour and are no longer useful. These ones can only produce false news and preach empty religion because the Heavens are shut against them. Therefore, it is not in activity, program or work, but in the very act of worshipping in Spirit and Truth( the true revelation of Him). This is why you find many preachers who go up to pray and preach but Heaven give them no audience. Jesus explained in Matthew 15, that these people are hypocrites. They show much service, honour; praise and glory in their mouths but their hearts are far from Him- Ezekiel 33:30-32. They worship but IN VAIN as Heaven has no record of their worship, despite their location of worship. They are like that Samaritan woman who worshipped God in the Mountain, but was clothed and dressed in the filthy garments of immorality and evil. They mainly base all their teachings on the doctrines of men; how to get business patronage, government patronage and help, neglecting the teachings on the ways of God-Matthew 15:7-9. These people when in the open, worship Him who they know not and call upon the Saviour who has not saved them.
The Samaritan woman knew not the God who she worshipped but took heed to worship Him even in sin and this made her worship worthless. So until you repent of all that is hindering you from seeking God and thereafter, seek Him with all you have, you can’t access Him. You must note that God is a Spirit and so there remain no need to go to Mountains, valleys, shrines, several countries and temples just to find and worship God- John 4:20-24. This woman was immoral, worldly and wicked for she had given herself to six men and was living with the sixth when she encountered the Saviour. This story makes us understand that there exists in this world, people who are given over to terrible and wicked sins who still approach the presence of God in worship-VAIN WORSHIP. They can dress like members of the true church of God, act like them, walk like them, but are very far from the God who owns the church. They are as far from God as the prodigal son who travelled to a faraway land just to squander his inheritance. They prefer to lead people astray with their vain words just so they can get more out from the members sitting in pews in churches, than to tell them to repent else someday their sins will find them out- Matthew 7: 15-16, 2 Corinthians 11:13-15.
Our Lord Jesus in the Sermon on the Mount described some Christians as vain and good-for-nothing believers who can no longer give taste to this tasteless world- Revelation 3:14-16. They are swallowed up in the past glory in which they live daily and refuse to move forward in God. Many of them have tasted the true joy and peace of the Lord and once lived in Him daily, but now, anger, bitterness, wickedness, worldliness and unequal yoking with unbelievers have brought them down. Though they still see visions, still prophesy and still perform wonders, yet, if their heart be far from Him, they worship but in vain. Holiness is exactly what the Lord demanded before and is still demanding now. There is no way you can serve God without being delivered from the power of sin (without salvation). And so for any man to worship God and live for Him, he must bear fruits like Jesus.
Christian character and fruit bearing is the difference between the church and the world. It doesn’t matter the size of your congregation or the crowds you are pulling each day to your church building, what matters is your CHARACTER. The men at Antioch were unbelievers who lived carnally and worldly, but when the disciples of Jesus came to their city to preach and dwelt there for a year, the men, seeing the distinction between them and the disciples realized that these disciples acted like that man called Jesus Christ, who went about doing good, and so they called them CHRISTIANS- Acts 11:26. But you must know that before you can really be a Christian, not as a name but as a lifestyle, you must have received Jesus Himself into yourself as Lord and personal Savior, for with the heart, man believes and with the mouth, confession is made unto SALVATION. It is high time you stop claiming Abraham’s blessings without first bringing forth fruits meant for repentance. It's time you start following God, growing in faith and remaining faithful to God just as Abraham did, so you can enjoy the blessings that comes with seeking after Him with the whole heart- Luke 1: 74-75.
God expects the TRUE WORSHIPPERS and HEAVEN BOUND CHRISTIANS to be ‘salt’ that will season the earth, that the unbelievers will taste and come believing. He wants our taste to be so exquisite that it will lead men back to Him. Again, in Matthew 5:14-15, He desires that our light so shine continually and brightly, that men(unbelievers), may see our good works and praise our Father in Heaven. He instructs that this light be not hidden but be allowed to shine attractively in the world that sinners be drawn to it. He commands that the light (truth) of Jesus shine through and His love be tasted in your life by the unbelieving so that they may marvel at and praise your Father who dwells in Heaven.
So for you to have a light that cannot be darkened and possess a taste that adds meaning to lives, making them beautiful, Jesus must be the center of your life- John 8:12. He MUST SHINE through you!!!
